Planet Zoo 1 vs Planet Zoo 2
Last verified 2026-10-14
ComparePlanet Zoo 2 launched digitally on 13 October 2026 for PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. The original Planet Zoo is a separate game with both PC and Console Edition products. Consoles are not exclusive to the sequel.
I checked Frontier's sequel help and launch pages alongside its original Console Edition site. I did not benchmark graphics or frame rates, and I found no official DLC-transfer entitlement in the pages checked.
Differences that are sourced
Frontier identifies fully aquatic animals, flying birds and Wildlife Reserves as sequel additions. Planet Hub and Photo Mode are also documented sequel features. PS5 and Xbox availability is not a first for the series: the original already has a Console Edition.
The sequel's official Zoopedia contains 136 entries. The original game's roster and DLC are separate products; do not assume purchases, saves or every animal transfer to Planet Zoo 2.
- Capybara, koala and giant anteater are absent from the sequel index
- The cetacean FAQ discusses welfare and research, rather than promising dolphins or whales
- Deluxe is a sequel edition, not a PZ1 pack
